I am considering two scope for NRL22 Base class. My rifle MSRP keeps me out of the EP5 range. The two scopes I am considering are the 6-24x50 versions of the SH-4J and the EPL4.
Are the windage and elevation specs correct? Typically a bigger tube would allow for more elevation and windage adjustments, but the specs say that the SH-4J has less windage adjustment than the EPL4 even though the SH-4J has bigger tube diameter. It does say the elevation range is larger on the SH-4J though.
Here are the other things I noticed in the specs.
The minimum parallax distance is better on the SH-4J. How much of a benefit is this for NRL22?
The elevation adjustment range is larger on the EPL4. Would this matter if you were running a 30 MOA rail?
Does anyone have an real world experience comparing the two they could share?
Thanks for any help / advice.
hello
If you are running the NRL22, out of those 2 optics, you will definitely want to go with the SH4J. The internal adjustment of the EPL4 is not going to do you justice with the .22lr. The SH4J is a slightly heavier, but will fit the bill far better than the EPL4, regardless of what rail you decide to run.
Got my hands on an SH-4J and it seems that the specs on the Arken website are not correct. First off, Parallax is labled down to 20 yards. The website states 25 yards. I will check to see if it actually removes parallax at 20 yards or less. Elevation adjustment range is 92 MOA and not the 108 MOA listed on the website. Lastly, the windage adjustment range is 62 MOA and not 34 MOA as the website states. That is a pretty large miss on that spec.
I am trying to get my hands on an EPL4, but can't find it on Amazon with the VPR retical which I need.
