I’ve zeroed my SH-GEN II 6x24x50. It is accurate but I’m only able to dial 3 mils windage left. (7 Mils to the right and 3 mils to the left) I’ve done the counting clicks to find center and zeroed from there. (130 clicks total = 65 clicks to the middle) Done that twice and still get the far left windage setting. Any suggestions on how to get the windage zero closer to the center.
The elevation is perfect…. I’ve installed a 20 moa pic rail and I’m able to get 17 mils up elevation.
Thx
So, took my new Sh4 gen 2 to the range today and had the exact issue discussed here, had my fixit sicks with me so I was able to do a field ring rotation with no measurable affect on the point of impact. im maxed out to the right and holding 2 mils more to the right to hit center at 50 yards. im guessing im going to be buying a set of this burris adjustable rings
Follow up on my issue... Thanks for everyones help....I removed and replaced each component to systematically investigate the issue. It seems the culprit was a misaligned screw tap hole (the second one from the muzzle). I installed some Burris XTR rings and visually borescoped the rifle and scope. Borescoping indicates a 2.8 mil correction. So far, it seems to have corrected my issue. I'll know more when I zero.
It is either the rings or the rail. Perhaps turn the rings 180, remount and see if it is off the other direction. If not it's probably the rail.
You can also try swapping the front ring with the back ring. The problem can also exist due to a barrel that’s not straight, receiver screw holes being off, or an out of spec rail. My original Remington 700 (way back when), had the same issue. I ended up using a set of Leupold Standard rings and mounts with the adjustable wind age to corr ct the problem.
This problem in particular, is why I always hold for wind, and dial for elevation.
You likely have an out-of-square pic rail or factory tap holes. You could try a new rail, though it's likely the holes drilled out of spec not the rail, or you can try some windage adjustable rings like the burris XTR rings. Those and others like them allows windage adjustments at the base. But you technically have enough in your setup to never have a problem, depending on how far you're shooting certain calibers
