Is the Stock Market Open on Presidents Day? Presidents Day, which falls on the third Monday of February each year, is a federal holiday in the United States, and the stock market is closed in observance of it. Both the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Nasdaq shut down for the day, meaning that no stock trading occurs on this holiday. Similarly, the U.S. bond market, overseen by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), is also closed. However, while the major U.S. stock exchanges remain closed, some international markets may remain open, allowing investors to trade in foreign securities.
